In total, almost 145,000 guests visited De Maaspoort in 2019, for a performance, conference or event. Over 112,000 visitors attended a theatre performance. This does not include visitors to the restaurants Luif, Cabillaud and the Scheuten roof terrace.
So far, 2017 was the best year ever for visitor numbers. In that year, the summer programming with the Kazan family was highly successful, among other things. 2019 exceeds the numbers and is therefore the most successful year ever for De Maaspoort in terms of visitor numbers. A number of very successful extra bookings and collaborations have ensured this good result. In the field of Cabaret, Harrie Jekkers, Pieter Derks, Henry van Loon, Martijn Koning, Katinka Polderman, Daniël Arends, Peter Pannekoek, Arjen Lubach, Najib Amhali, Theo Maassen, Patrick Laureij, Brigitte Kaandorp, Javier Guzman, Kasper van der Laan and a Polish Standup Comedy show all ensured sold-out auditoriums. In the field of Music, Heino's farewell tour, Airwalk and Kool & The Gang in collaboration with Grenswerk attracted large numbers of visitors. Johan Derksen, Marco Bakker and Sef Thissen, Guido's Orchestra, The Analogues, Songs of Freedom with the Metropole Orchestra, Rewind, Tino Martin, Ilse DeLange, The Dire Straits Experience and Danny Vera were also successful.
The satisfaction of the visitors is just as important. With an overall average of 8.3, visitor satisfaction was stable. The performances were rated with an average of 8.6, which is the highest average rating ever given by guests. The best-rated performances were: Esther Groenenberg, Peachez by Toneelgroep Maastricht, Titanic by Valuas College, Wibi Soerjadi, Nasrdin Dchar, Kikker en het avontuur, Danny Vera, POLLUX duit Emil, Brigitte Kaandorp and Ramses leeft! with Baer Traa. Every year, around 5,000 guests fill in the satisfaction survey of De Maaspoort.
De Maaspoort can therefore look back on a successful year. Leon Thommassen, managing director: "After record year 2017, it was a setback not to be able to rise again in 2018. Fortunately, we will make up for this in 2019. I am enormously proud that we are generating interest not only among the existing audience but also among new visitors. From Venlo and the wider region. It was another successful year in the culinary field. Since March, Chef Wouter Verheijen has been in the kitchen at Cabillaud and once again we received a top review in the Gault Millau and the LEKKER 500. "
A total of 40 performances were sold out. The programme was particularly successful in the areas of Cabaret, Music and Theatre.
