North and Central Limburg theatres working on one theatre brand joining forces for an attractive theatre offer
18 apr. 2019

Five theatres in North and Central Limburg are going to collaborate extensively in the coming years. De Maaspoort Theatre & Events (Venlo), Schouwburg Venray, TheaterHotel De Oranjerie (Roermond), Munttheater (Weert) and DOK6 Theatre (Panningen) will operate under a single theatre brand in the course of the 2019-2020 season and present their entire offer on a joint website. The aim of the collaboration is to create an even more attractive theatre offer for the region and to reach more visitors. The Province of Limburg is supporting this initiative and recently awarded a subsidy for this, totalling € 210,000.

We are convinced that joining forces will result in a more accessible and attractive theatre offer for the North and Central Limburg region. This cooperation includes the joint production of performances, coordinated programming, intensive cooperation in the areas of marketing and technology, and the sharing of knowledge.

The Province of Limburg welcomes this form of cooperation and has decided to support this initiative financially with a multi-year subsidy. The cultural offering is made for the public to enjoy and inspire. The intensification of the cooperation between the theatres contributes to a better reach and a more attractive cultural offering in North and Central Limburg.

Building up a single theatre brand and an integrated programming and marketing organisation is expected to take several years. In the meantime, we are working hard to set up a joint website that will present the theatres' total offering in a clear manner. This site, which will be launched alongside the various theatres' own websites, will be operational in the course of 2020.

Brigitte van Eck (Munttheater), on behalf of the five theatres: "We are delighted that the Province is supporting our ambitions, so that we can give concrete form to the cooperation. The ultimate winner of our cooperation is our audience: current visitors, but hopefully also many new audiences. We look forward to making this a success, together with our audience, artists, staff and municipalities. And we have many more ideas together that we want to bring to fruition". Leon Thommassen adds: "Through this cooperation we can ensure that good quality productions continue to come to this region. We believe in this cooperation by joining forces and also in the longer term to realise more return for the region."
