What started out as a hopeful text written especially for one theatre was quickly embraced by the entire cultural sector and grew into a poetic statement that is distributed sector-wide as of today. To all the people who care about theatre.
The work of art, consisting of a column (written by Jan Beuving) and a video, is about the promise of an empty auditorium, in which the magic of what will soon be possible and allowed again slumbers. The 400 theatres, venues, producers, impresarios, academies, sector institutions, festivals, choirs, orchestras, ensembles, dance & theatre companies are eagerly awaiting that moment.
Hans van Manen (dance), Peter Pannekoek (cabaret), Soumaya Ahouaoui (theatre), Jaap van Zweden (music) and Simone Kleinsma (musical) expressed this hope in words.
They also worked together with dancer Uri Eugenio (LeineRoebana) and four pianists: Hannes Minnaar, Yang Yang Cai, Helena Basilova and Iris Hond. They will play a part from Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt on four grand pianos. The director of the video is Katja Akkerman.
The sector has promised to reserve 400 tickets for the visitors. When the doors open again, the audience has a chance to win two tickets for a performance or concert. In a full auditorium, this promise will become reality. Click here to be in with a chance of winning and to view the promise.
