Maaspoort is looking for a Manager Hospitality who, in the coming years, will transform our building and our hospitality into a low-threshold, publicly accessible, vibrant house where it's possible.

With an unimaginable love of theatre and music, an eye for talent, youth, the future, a large dose of guts and the ability to see the world through the eyes of others, we manage to seduce, amaze, embrace and move you. Welcome to Maaspoort. Here we celebrate culture and life with unadulterated joie de vivre.

Passion for hospitality
Maaspoort is an organisation with a regional function in North and Central Limburg in the centre of Venlo with theatre halls, a bistro, meeting rooms, foyers, an impressive roof terrace and a theatre hotel for which we facilitate the reception and breakfast.

Every year, there are 250 professional performances, 100 amateur performances and over 350 commercial events take place that are attended by 150.000 visitors. All this in addition to the hospitality guest visiting our bistro or rooftop bar.

Employees at Maaspoort love people and our curiosity is leading, 'no' suits us only when we have researched 'yes' and we are convinced that we create impact when we also look outside our comfort zone for answers, collaborations and - sometimes contrarian - solutions. That is our passion for hospitality.

Our organisation and ambitions
Within Maaspoort, we work with these departments: Hospitality, Building & Technology, Business & Events, Marketing & Education, Programme & Context and Finance & Control, P&O and ICT.

Our ambition is to transform into a low-threshold, public-access vibrant house. A place where there is space for meeting, art and culture, working, studying, learning, celebrating, staying, experimenting and development. The aim is to fill the building in a diverse way, to create excitement and to welcome new audiences.

Our bistro on the market square will be a place where you are welcome from early until late, even if you don't come for a performance or concert. This concept is an integral and connecting part of the building concept.

Manager Hospitality

  • You are a facilitator, go-getter, future gripper and connector.
  • You are responsible for the hospitality department and lead the entire hospitality team (total of 20 FTEs and 35 volunteers).
  • You are responsible for achieving the department's financial and qualitative objectives and report on them periodically.
  • You report to the Manager Operations and are part of the MT.
  • You realise maximum turnover by operating as an entrepreneur and organising activities and events yourself.
  • You are responsible for the entire personnel policy within the hospitality department. This includes optimal personnel planning, recruitment and training.
  • You create opportunities to do business more hospitably, smartly and efficiently through digitalisation.
  • You coach the team leaders (head chef, theatre & events, bistro, front office and assistant hospitality manager) in personal development.
  • You are ultimately responsible for the daily delivery of an exceptionally pleasant guest journey through a building that looks spick and span.
  • In short: it feels like your own business and you act accordingly.

Are you our new Manager Hospitality?

  • You have at least 3 years' experience in a similar position in a dynamic environment.
  • In addition, you have at least 5 years' experience in the hospitality industry and demonstrable operational leadership experience.
  • You think and work at HBO level.
  • You are service-oriented and put our guest first.
  • You have experience in working towards financial targets.
  • You have no problem working evenings and weekends.
  • You have a firm, persuasive and approachable personality.
  • You are skilled in communication, you are focused on cooperation and you have a great sense of responsibility.

We offer:

  • A challenging position within a unique inspiring working environment of Maaspoort where no day is the same.
  • A competitive salary depending on work experience with attractive  secondary conditions. The catering industry collective labour agreement applies.
  • Room for personal development. After all, you never stop learning.
